Bayerngas has developed a professional gas portfolio management service, offers its customers a structured procurement strategy and is active in trading centres (in future trading points and at the EEX). The company also provides its partners with access to expertise, creates synergies and offers additional services aimed at the development of markets:

• Transfer of expertise: Working groups and workshops on the subject of procurement/portfolio management, trading and transportation.
• Synergies: Trading floor, risk distribution/management, accounting grid management, IT infrastructure, and market presence.
• Preservation of competitiveness: Development of innovative products.
• Value added: Customer retention instruments, for example, the technical application service for examining the efficiency of gas-powered facilities and installations.

The bundling of expertise and the shared use of infrastructure reduces costs as well as implementation times.

The development of trading centres means that trading activities are becoming increasingly important (hubs/virtual trading centres/gas exchanges). The risks associated with trading can be offset by the aggregation of purchasing volumes and the sharing of risk that is made possible by a procurement platform. At the same time, this joint approach opens up opportunities for developing new products that must be represented in the procurement strategy.
